AT A GLANCE
ACADEMIC ACTIVITY – RESEARCH
Over the years, Dr Kaloudis has remained deeply involved in clinical research, teaching, and academic cardiology across Europe. From recruiting patients into pivotal trials on valve disease and COVID-19 immunity to presenting dozens of case studies and research posters at national and European congresses, his academic path has been both broad and focused. He has taught echocardiography and cardiac diagnostics to doctors at various levels and delivered lectures on complex cardiac conditions, always aiming to connect theory with practical decision-making. Sharing knowledge—whether at the bedside, in a lecture hall, or through collaborative research—continues to be a core part of his cardiology journey.
RESEARCH INVOLVEMENT
• 2023: Patient recruitment for the EASY-AS RCT on early valve replacement in severe asymptomatic aortic stenosis (London).
• 2021: Patient recruitment for the SIREN study on post-COVID-19 immunity (London).
• 2020: Patient recruitment for the ISCOMAT study on heart failure rehospitalisation and mortality (London).
• 2010–2002: Presented 30+ research posters at major national and international congresses (European Society of Cardiology, Panhellenic Congresses, Athens Interventional Cardiovascular Therapeutics, and others), covering:
– Heart failure, ACS, valvular disease, arrhythmias
– Electrocardiographic patterns (e.g., Brugada, RBBB, WPW)
-Case reports in cardiology and internal medicine
-Biomarker use (NT-proBNP, CK-MB)
-Drug side effects and rare syndromes
LECTURING & TEACHING
• 2024: Led hands-on training in focused echocardiography in emergency care (Poole)
• 2019: Delivered multiple cardiology workshops in London on ECGs, DSE, pulmonary hypertension, and valvular pathways.
• 2018–2013: Lectures on advanced imaging (cardiac strain), unexplained cardiomyopathies (Fabry’s), and arrhythmias in clinical practice.
• 2007–2009: Delivered postgraduate teaching in Athens and Ioannina on heart failure, anemia, hypotension/syncope, and coronary interventions.
Participated in round tables and specialist congresses, integrating psychiatry and lipidology.
